 Museum of the Everglades
Home to the River of Grass, the Museum of the Everglades is a piece of history you won't want to miss. The Everglades City was once only accessible by boat as it was a vital trading town before 1923 when it became the base of operations for the construction of the Tamiami Trail. This trail is the present-day US Highway 41.

The building that houses the museum is one of a few remaining structures that represent the period of a high-traffic business center. The museum holds permanent and traveling exhibits that provide a detailed observation of 2,000 years of human history in this city. It is a place that tells a beautiful story. Some refer to it as " Florida's Last Frontier."

It was restored to reflect the appearance it had during the Roaring 20's and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. 35 Miles east of downtown Naples and under 100 miles from Miami.

All ages are welcome. Be sure to view the schedule to see any traveling exhibits you wish to experience.
